I don’t know if you have seen the comparison between Wal-Mart and Target, but this article does a good job on a high-level. Overall, Wal-Mart crushes all other companies for sustainability—and this directly translates into profits too, from building maintenance, costing on goods, and supply chain. All Wal-Mart stores use natural daylight for lighting and heating and are 100% sustainable, so the physical operating costs are next to nothing after the store is built. Wal-Marts are actually used as a case study in architecture programs as a perfect example of retailers turning to sustainable architecture to benefit the globe and their bottom line.
Thanks, B!
